Casting Your Vote

Watch: Voting (00:17)

When the moderator calls for a vote, the Voting Panel at the bottom of SessionSync expands to show the motion being voted on and buttons for each voting choice.

How to vote:

  1. Click the button for your choice
  2. The button changes color and shows a white checkmark—your vote is recorded
  3. If you clicked the wrong one, click your intended choice instead. You can change your vote at any time while voting is open.

The 30-second timer

A countdown timer appears in the upper right corner of the voting panel. This is the minimum voting window—voting doesn't automatically close at :00. The moderator will keep voting open until all expected votes are confirmed. That said, cast your vote within 30 seconds to avoid any risk of missing the window.

After voting closes

The moderator will display the results in the same area where the voting buttons were.

Plenary Voting: One Extra Step

In plenary sessions, advisory delegates are polled before commissioners vote. The process works like this:

  1. Advisory delegates see a polling panel and cast their poll—the process is identical to voting
  2. Polling results are displayed by advisory delegate type—all participants can see these results
  3. The moderator announces: "Commissioners, you have been advised. You may vote when your voting panel is displayed."
  4. Commissioners vote using the same process described above
  5. Commissioner voting results are displayed

In committee meetings, everyone votes at the same time—there is no separate advisory delegate poll.

One More Thing

The top section of the Voting Panel is always visible on SessionSync, even when no vote is active. It shows your name, your role, and a checkbox to enable an audible notification when it's time to vote. Consider turning this on—especially for long sessions where your attention may be divided.
