The 'How'—Walking Humbly

  • A Posture of Learning: Rejecting dominance and staying open to correction.
  • Interdependence: Recognizing that 'walking together' is a spiritual strength.
  • The Goal: Rewriting right relationships with ourselves, each other, and creation.

Exploring Walking Humbly: A Posture of Learning (0:42)

Interrupting Bias: Choice Points

  • What is a Choice Point? A strategic pause in the decision-making process (i.e. to redirect or shift course).
  • The Purpose: To move away from 'automatic' decisions and check our alignment with equity values.
  • GA Practice: Building 'pauses' into the structure of the collective decision-making work.

Listen: Choice Points in Decision-Making (1:46)

Priming for Equity

  • What are Equity Primes? Cognitive prompts or questions used to disrupt implicit bias.
  • 'Priming' for Inclusion: Reminding the brain of choices beyond our standard habits.

Sample Primes:

  • Whose voice is not being heard right now?
  • How does this decision impact those historically marginalized?
  • How does this decision impact those with lived experience around this issue?

Listen to Amanda introduce Equity Primes and Prompts (1:06)

Co-Creation and Spiritual Formation

  • Beyond ‘Having a seat': Belonging means having the power to shape the community.
  • Listening deeply to those historically excluded to co-create a new way forward.
  • Spiritual Gifts: Confession, repentance, repair, and hope.
