As we come together to celebrate General Assembly meetings, Hands and Feet is the vehicle that enables GA participants to be a part of public witness ministries that are seeking God’s justice. This year, we will be focusing again on the issue of cash bail, a system that continues to burden people in Louisville, KY and in other communities around the country. It is a moment to remember where we have been and where we may go as we accompany local community leaders and partners.
The event will include reflections from those affected by the cash bail system and leaders and members involved in efforts to end the use of cash bail. The event will be grounded by a panel discussion about the missional expression of Hands and Feet and the systemic injustices compounded by cash bail.
Panelists will include:
Rev. Dr. J. Herbert Nelson, II, Stated Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA)
Rev. Dr. Shannon Craigo-Snell, professor of Theology at the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary
Rev. Jimmie Hawkins, director of the Presbyterian Washington Office of Public Witness and the Presbyterian United Nations Office
Join us on Thursday, June 7, at 6:00p EDT for the livestream event on the GA225 Homepage & Spirit of GA Facebook page.
