The special committee’s responsibilities include exploring and exposing where white supremacy is “embedded institutionally and foundationally” in the PC(USA) as well as its governing documents.

The "Task Force to Explore the Theology and Practice of Ordination" was created by an action of the 225th (2022) General Assembly (see MC-10). The Assembly charged the Task Force to: to explore the theology and practice of ordination, including commissioned ruling elders, as well as membership, church structure, accountability, and chartering." The Task Force is to recommend any needed changes to the 226th General Assembly (2024).

The 225th General Assembly (2022) created the Funding Model Development team to develop, recruit, implement, and provide oversight of possible funding model experiments. It is tasked to develop and implement experiments that will fund councils of the church, above the session, that will be consistent with the identified values and adaptive challenges of the mid councils. It will report back to the 226th General Assembly (2024) their progress and any recommendations for moving forward and report on their prospects for finishing their work and final report to the 227th General Assembly (2026).
